Brief Profile:
Dr wasie is an advisor, trainer, author, researcher and
educationist by profession with a strong educational background
and vast corporate experience.He
completed his Shariah graduation from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, and specialization in Islamic
Jurisprudence from Jamia Uloom e Islamya Allama Muhammad Yusuf Banuri Town. He also holds a graduation
in Commerce, an MBA in Finance, and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Islamic Studies.
Dr. Wasie is also contributing to body of knowledge of Islamic medicine being the founding member of
Islamic Medical Learners Association (IMLA) which is a not for profit organization striving for the shariah
compliant health care practices globally.
He is a shariah expert with
consulting, research, and teaching experience in Islamic Finance. In professional corporate career, Dr. Wasie
is chairman of shariah board of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) erstwhile Agricultural Development Bank of
Pakistan (ADBP) where he got the honor of being member of the founding team of Islamic Banking Division. As an advisor
to Atlas Asset Management Limited (AAML), he is supervising shariah compliance of various mutual and
pension funds. He is also a director of Alhamd Shariah Advisory Services Private Limited (ASAS), a
leading global Shariah Advisory firm specializing in Islamic finance solutions and providing shariah
consultancy to various Companies. He also holds vast
experience of shariah audit of banks and insurance companies while working in leading audit firms, A.F.
Fergusons & Co. and Grant Thornton Anjum Rahman (GTAR)
On academic side, Dr Wasie is an Assistant Professor at Hamdard University where he is teaching Islamic
banking and finance at Graduation and Post-Graduation level. He has also taught Islamic courses to
thousands of students at various well recognized universities/higher education institutes, like University of
Karachi, Institute of Business Management (IOBM) DHA Suffa University, PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and
Technology (KIET) & Usman Institute of Technology – UIT.
